If we were all perfect
, there’d be no need for words like, “regret,” “mercy,” “pardon,” “forgiveness,” “compassion,” “rehabilitation.” But most of all, there’d be no need for “Love.” It is because we are none of us perfect that Love is so important.
Feeling love and giving love is easy when things are going great. Even when they are going just okay. But what a flabby
, superficial thing love would be if we were all perfect. When is it that “love” really matters?
If we were all perfect, how would we express love? Throw each other parties? Give each other gifts? Shower each other with compliments, which would have no real meaning since we’d all be equally perfect in beauty and body and mind? Would “love” be lending each other a helping hand? But
, then again, we wouldn’t, because no one would need it, what with all of us being perfect.
So, just when is it that “Love” is defined? When does it most matter? How are you defining “Love” in your life?
